Alfred Winter is Professor for Medical Informatics and responsible for a master’s program at Leipzig University, Germany. His research focuses on management of health information systems. He has been president of the German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS)bin 2020 and 2021 and Secretary of the European Federation of Medical Informatics (EFMI) from 2014
to 2022. He is fellow of the International Academy for Health Sciences Informatics.

Juan A. Sánchez-Margallo holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science with European Mention from the University of Extremadura (Spain), obtaining the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. In 2008 he obtained a research staff training grant from the Extremadura Regional Government. Predoctoral visiting researcher at the Computer Vision Group, Department of Computer Science, University of Bristol (UK) for six months. Postdoctoral specialization at the Medical Technology Department of SINTEF (Norway) and the Department of Biomechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Delft (The Netherlands). Since 2017 he is a Scientific Researcher at the Bioengineering and Health Technology Unit of the Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre in Cáceres (Spain). Member of the Technological Committee of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES).

Professor Ph.D. John Mantas

John Mantas is Professor Emeritus of Health Informatics at the University of Athens. His current research interests are in health information systems, patient safety, health informatics, and management of healthcare. He is the author of more than 250 publications and received international recognition among peers demonstrated by more than 23000 citations. During his career he has supervised more than 300 master’s dissertations and 35 doctoral theses. He was the President of the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) from 2010 to 2012; and the Vice-President of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) representing EFMI from 2012 to 2014. He is Honorary Fellow of EFMI, Honorary Fellow of the GBHIA, Fellow of the American College for Medical Informatics (ACMI), Member of the Romanian Academy for Medical Sciences, and Fellow of the International Academy for Health Sciences Informatics (IAHSI).

Professor Ph.D. Gary Ostertag

Gary Ostertag is a Professor in the Department of Medical Education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and in the Philosophy Department at the Graduate Center, CUNY, USA. Within bioethics, his research focuses on a number of topics: intersectional bias in medical AI; the use of personalized LLMs in research and publication; the context-sensitivity of key terms in medicine and ethics (e.g., ‘autonomy’, ‘death’, ‘justice’); a formal theory of clinical equipoise. He is also interested in the linguistic dimension of consent and the moral and linguistic distinction between lying and “mere” deception.

His client experience covers EU commercial and government civil and defense agencies. Is passionate about in-memory computing and Spiking Neural Networks. By collaborating with a number of international universities as well as partners from science has worked to solve today’s most challenging AI problems. As part of IBM Client Engineering is trying to accelerate customers’ journey to innovation in a short time with co-creation (Client Engineering Value Method) and emerging AI technologies.

Andra Cenan Glăvan is an intellectual property specialist at the Innovation and Tech Transfer Centre at the West University of Timișoara. Her research focuses on intellectual property rights and valorisation, co-creation and, as part of her PhD research, a focus on corporate rights and obligations. The critical importance of tech transfer and intellectual property will be underlined, especially delving into the intersection of innovation and legal safeguards in the dynamic landscape of medical research.
